North Star Camp for Boys
Friday Night Services
Once a week we take the opportunity to come together as a camp to reflect on the week past. The entire camp will gather around the flag pole for formal retreat and then go to the Council Ring for our Friday Night Service. This program is a value oriented program build around a theme like sportsmanship, unity and conservation. So many of our programs are high energy, however during our Friday Night Services we ask our campers to take more of a reflective mindset. Our campers love sitting at the council ring hearing the stories and songs of their fellow campers and counselors. We have a camper choir and a counselor chorus which gets together ahead of time to practice a few songs to perform. We also ask one of our staff member to prepare a sermonette revolving around the theme of the service.
Our campers and staff also love participating in one of the great North Star traditions, the Keylog Ceremony. This is an opportunity for anyone to get up and recognize someone others who have been good friends, done something special or gone above and beyond. Those who wish will throw a keylog into the fire in sincere appreciation.
The Friday Night Service is not a religious based service. We take the opportunity to further instill the values in our community which help make North Star a special place.
