Beyond a doubt, our staff is the backbone and strength of North Star. We spend a great deal of time and energy making sure that the counselors working at North Star are the best - counselors who are patient, caring, sensitive people. They have the skills and training to ensure an unforgettable summer for every camper.

The American Camping Association recommends a ratio of one counselor for every eight campers. We believe giving your son individual attention is so important that we have one counselor for every four campers. As a result, every staff member personally knows every camper.

We look first for people who are sincerely interested in working with kids. Each staff member must possess a specific skill which he can teach our campers from sports to rocketry, from story-telling to camping techniques. Most new counselors are referred by current or past staff members and alumni who work in college placement centers. North Star Directors, Sue and Robert Lebby, have devoted their lives to working with young people.
